The Gedatsu Church encourages the regular practice of meditation for personal spiritual cultivation. Members are trained in two forms of meditation:
- Ajikan meditation is traditionally practiced in esoteric Buddhism in Japan. Its regular practice helps one develop the intellect, strengthen the will, and calm emotions.
- Holy Hiho meditation is a unique, sacred practice of the Gedatsu Church, which unifies one’s heart, mind, and body with the Universal Life Force.
The regular practice of both Hiho and Ajikan meditation helps us deal with the challenges and stresses of everyday life and improves our spirituality.
The Los Angeles Gedatsu Church conducts group meditation practices at 10 a.m. on two Sundays a month under the guidance of a Gedatsu practitioner:
- Hiho Meditation on the first Sunday
- Ajikan Meditation on the fourth Sunday
The program for both meditation practices is as follows:
- Opening prayer
- Instructional video on meditation
- Meditation practice
- Ancestor blessing
- Closing prayer
